Mars Hill University Joins National Student Exchange

Mars Hill, NC (01/28/2022) — Mars Hill University students have a new way to access opportunities to study at other institutions around the globe. The university joined National Student Exchange (NSE), an organization that provides accessible study-away to undergraduate students.

"Being able to attend college in a different state or province will provide many benefits to our students," said Maria Moreno, Mars Hill's director of global learning. "It will broaden their perspectives, enable them to explore and appreciate new cultures, to take courses not offered at our institution, to explore new areas of study, and possibly to investigate graduate schools."

The NSE network comprises schools in the United States, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. For those who want to go beyond the study-away institutions and experience a more pronounced change-of-scenery, NSE also will give them access to study-abroad programs in more than 40 countries.

Moreno says an NSE experience will push students out of their comfort zones and teach them valuable life skills for a relatively low cost. She says it is an exciting opportunity for Mars Hill students, in particular for those who are first-generation college students from this region and may benefit from the chance to spend some time at an institution farther from home.

The exchange agreement also gives students from other member schools the opportunity to study at Mars Hill University.
