All are welcome to join today in the fellowship hall at noon to enjoy some tasty Moe's tacos and hear from David LaMotte about building peace and community - even in times like these. David is an author, speaker, songwriter, and peacebuilder - and a longtime friend of MHU. This event is hosted by the MHU Rotaract Club.
Helene Relief Concert with David Lamotte

"A Community Rewoven" Art Workshop
6-7:30 p.m., Marshbanks Hall Room 103
The Intro to Art Therapy class will host workshops for people to create art in response to Hurricane Helene. Individual pieces will be sewn into a large community quilt. No art experience necessary. Dates/times are October 30, 6-7:30 p.m.; November 7, 4:30-6 p.m.; November 11, 7-8:30 p.m.
Criminal Justice Career Fair
6-8 p.m., Guffey Commons of Day Hall (2nd floor)
Local criminal justice agencies will be on hand to help CJ majors navigate the hiring process for a career in law enforcement.

Trunk or Treat
4-7 p.m., College Street & Main Street
In conjunction with the Town of Mars Hill, the Student Athlete Advisory Committee will host a Trunk or Treat on College Street and Main Street in downtown Mars Hill. Athletics teams will dress up and provide candy and other Halloween goodies for children.

Come meet and support local Mars Hill businesses at the monthly First Fridays event. Vendor village, face painting, henna tattoos, bouncy house, arts and crafts for all ages, Bailey Mountain Cloggers performance, food trucks, musicians.
Reception for "What Light Knows" Exhibition
5-8 p.m., Weizenblatt Gallery (Moore Fine Arts Building)
The current exhibition, "What Light Knows" by Asheville artist Anna Helgeson, is a series of photography and mixed-media work that explores very deep subjects from unusual perspectives. This has been extended through the end of the fall semester on December 6. There will be a reception for the artist on Friday, November 1, from 5-8 p.m., in conjunction with Mars Hill First Friday.

MHU Athletics Hall of Fame Induction
Halftime of football game, Meares Stadium
MHU will induct two new members to the Hall of Fame: Hudson Tucker and Jonas Randolph. Tucker is the first swimmer ever inducted into the Mars Hill Hall of Fame. At the time of his induction, Tucker is the lone All-American swimmer the Lions have produced. A three-time All-American, Tucker was also named an All-Conference swimmer all four years on the Hill. Randolph is the only player in the South Atlantic Conference to win the Harlon Hill Trophy, awarded to the best player in Division II football. Randolph holds every Mars Hill football rushing record, including career rushing yards, most yards in a season, most yards in a game, and highest per game average. All of those marks serve as South Atlantic Conference records, as well.

Visual and Performing Arts Visit Day for high school juniors and seniors interested in art, music, or theatre. Visual and Performing Arts Visit Days are specifically geared to giving prospective students an opportunity to see firsthand what it would be like to perform with us at Mars Hill. Whether your interest is in art, graphic arts, ceramics, photography, a major or minor in music, singing or playing in an ensemble, theatre, musical theatre, or dance-or you just need to figure that out, a Visual and Performing Arts Visit Day can help you do just that.
