Tatum Boggs Named Assistant Women's Basketball Coach
Mars Hill University alumna Tatum Boggs has been named Assistant Women's Basketball Coach, as announced by the Mars Hill athletics department. Boggs played women's basketball two years at Converse College before transferring to Mars Hill, where she became a potent offensive player. Boggs completed work study and internship hours with the Mars Hill athletic department during her senior season, as well as revamped the women's basketball program's social media presence. She joined the MHU Athletic Communications staff as a graduate assistant in the summer of 2020 and also served as a volunteer coach for the women's basketball program during the 2020-21 season. Boggs graduated in 2020 from MHU with a bachelor's degree in Recreation and Sport Management and obtained her Master of Management degree in 2021.

Ja'Shawn Brooks Named Player of the Week
Mars Hill guard Ja'Shawn Brooks has been named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played during week four of the 2019-20 season. Brooks, a senior from Augusta, Ga., led the Lions to a 2-0 SAC record last week with wins over UVa-Wise and Newberry.

Olivia Hokanson of the Mars Hill women's lacrosse team was named to the 2018 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Zag Sports Division II Academic Honor Roll, as announced Monday afternoon. To be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.

Lauren Hochstetler named to Academic-All America First Team
Mars Hill volleyball's Lauren Hochstetler was named to the 2017 Academic All-America Division II Volleyball Team as chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on December 12, 2017. Hochstetler was named First Team for the first time in her career. Hochstetler is the first volleyball player in program history to earn a First Team Academic All-American selection and the first volleyball player since 1985 to get recognized by CoSIDA (Denise Groh, Honorable Mention). She is also the first female student-athlete in Mars Hill history to earn a First Team selection. Head Coach Tony Fontanelle said of his senior outside hitter, "It has been an honor to have Lauren as part of the Mars Hill volleyball program. The example that she has set for fellow teammates and student-athletes, both on and off the court, has been something to behold." Hochstetler holds a 4.00 GPA while studying chemistry with minors in biology and pre-professional studies.
